The Community Dance Connection Theatre
In conjunction wtih guest artists and performers, the CDCT serves as an incubator for original choreography and an educational dance link within Rockbridge County and beyond. CDCT programs are designed to promote community awareness and involvement through site-specific dance events, informal performances, and concert stage productions.
The CDCT begins in August with orientation, choreography workshops, and company classes that are designed to be the important first steps in preparing for the coming concert and educational outreach season.
In order to maintain the quality of training within the company, CDCT members must register for and attend a required number of dance classes per week. In addition to regular class attendance (there are a limited number of excused absences), production rehearsals scheduled the week leading up to any CDCT performance are mandatory. At this time, All CDCT classes and rehearsals are held at Halestone Dance Studio unless otherwise arranged.
Candidates for membership will be considered no matter what their level of training or experience. Once enrolled, CDCT members are responsible for maintaining standards necessary for the success of the company. Members of The CDCT who fail to uphold any of the following standards may be eliminated from The CDCT at the Directors discretion:
Motivation: The CDCT is a program only for those most interested in a dedicated study of dance and who are willing to invest time and energy in that process. The CDCT is a program for dedicated dancers who are prepared to invest the time and energy that are required of a performing artist.
Cooperation: It is necessary for ensemble members to work closely together as a supportive, noncompetitive unit. Negativity and jealousy are self-defeating and destructive to the goals of the ensemble. Misbehavior will not be allowed.
Dependability: Ensemble members are expected to attend all scheduled classes and rehearsals, to be on time and prepared to work.
